South America’s only bear, the spectacled bear is named for the pale rings around its eyes. Vulnerable to the fragmentation of Andean forests, here it appears on black as if from dense vegetation.
Every Animals in Black photograph begins in a wildlife park in Northern Italy and is developed through Gian Luca Partengo’s original post-production process, which isolates the animal against black without altering its identity.
