Hippopotamus

Hippopotamus amphibius

Conservation status (IUCN): Vulnerable

from €85,40

Despite its placid look, the hippopotamus is among Africa’s most dangerous animals, spending its days submerged to shelter from the sun. A vulnerable species, the portrait on black captures its bulk and vast jaws.

Every Animals in Black photograph begins in a wildlife park in Northern Italy and is developed through Gian Luca Partengo’s original post-production process, which isolates the animal against black without altering its identity.

10% of the value of every print is set aside and donated to WWF or other organisations committed to protecting animals and endangered species.
