Where does the steppe eagle live?
It nests on the ground in the open steppe and semi-desert of Central Asia and undertakes long migrations to eastern and southern Africa and the Indian subcontinent. It feeds mainly on rodents, especially ground squirrels, and gathers at rubbish dumps in winter.
Is the steppe eagle endangered?
Rated Endangered (EN) with a rapidly decreasing population. The main threats are electrocution on power poles, poisoning, persecution and the conversion of steppe into farmland.
